Sharing files with my colleagues and clients has become a very important part of running my event planning business efficiently. It is extremely important to make sure that you are using the right file-sharing systems and policies so you are not at a security risk. Here are a few file sharing habits to stay away from.

imgres1. Sharing Files Via Email

Encrypt your files and use secure file sharing services rather than attaching documents. Email is not designed to be secure.

2. Using Consumer-Grade Cloud Solutions

Spend the money for a corporate account that can be regulated and monitored.

3. Peer-to-peer (P2P) File Sharing

Installing P2P software on your computer allows anyone to access your data. Be sure to set administrative privileges so that programs cannot be installed on your computer without your knowledge.

4. Using Flash Drives

Scan all devices and files with the latest anti-virus tools.  Infected files from someone’s flash drive can cause havoc on your entire computer system.

5. Lack of Visibility

Make sure all employees know what your file sharing policies are.
